Terms of Use
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using the AlpineLog platform, you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy.
During sign-up you will be presented with the statement: “By signing up, you agree to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.” Your continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of these terms.
If you do not agree with these terms, you must not use the platform.
2. Account Responsibilities
- You must provide accurate information during sign-up.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your credentials.
- One account per person.
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account (consistent with our Privacy Policy).
3. User-Generated Content (UGC)
You retain ownership of the content you create on AlpineLog, including activity logs, condition reports, photos, and descriptions.
By submitting content, you grant AlpineLog a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, display, reproduce, modify, and distribute the content on the platform and in related promotional materials.
This license survives account deletion — anonymized content (activity logs) remains on the platform under the “Anonymous” label.
You must ensure you have the right to submit the content (e.g., your own photos, no plagiarized text). AlpineLog may remove content that violates these terms without prior notice.
4. Prohibited Conduct
Users must not:
- Submit false, misleading, or intentionally inaccurate condition reports.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
- Spam the platform (bulk submissions, irrelevant content, unsolicited promotion).
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the platform.
- Use the platform for commercial purposes without authorization (e.g., selling access to data, using reports for commercial products).
- Post sponsored content without clearly labeling it as sponsored.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or platform systems.
- Upload malicious content (malware, exploits, etc.).
5. Condition Reports Disclaimer
AlpineLog provides community-sourced information for planning purposes only. Condition reports reflect what individual users observed at a specific point in time. Mountain and outdoor conditions change rapidly and unpredictably.
Users are solely responsible for their own safety decisions. AlpineLog does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any condition report.
AlpineLog is not a substitute for professional judgment, local knowledge, or official safety advisories. Users should always assess conditions independently before undertaking any outdoor activity.
AlpineLog, Digital Outdoor SL, and its contributors accept no liability for injuries, accidents, property damage, or death resulting from decisions made based on information found on the platform.
6. Account Suspension and Termination
AlpineLog reserves the right to suspend or permanently ban any account that violates these terms.
Violations include but are not limited to: submitting false reports, harassment, spam, scraping, commercial misuse, or any conduct that harms the community or the platform.
Upon ban, the user loses access to their account. Activity logs are anonymized (same as account deletion). AlpineLog is not required to provide prior notice but will communicate the reason for the action when feasible.
Users may also voluntarily delete their account at any time. See our Privacy Policy (Data Retention) for details on data handling after deletion.
7. Intellectual Property
The AlpineLog name, logo, design, and platform software are the property of Digital Outdoor SL.
You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from AlpineLog’s proprietary content without written permission.
User-generated content is governed by section 3 above.
8. Limitation of Liability
AlpineLog is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
Digital Outdoor SL is not liable for: platform downtime, data loss, inaccurate reports, or any indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the platform.
Maximum liability is limited to the amount the user has paid to AlpineLog (which is zero for free accounts).
9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Spanish law.
Any disputes arising from the use of the platform will be resolved by the courts of Barcelona, Spain.
10. Changes to Terms
AlpineLog reserves the right to modify these terms. Users will be notified of material changes via email or a prominent notice on the platform.
Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
